Race: Wights
Average Lifespan: Indefinite (unless killed by fire or a magical weapon)
Appearance: Most will have bones and frozen organs visible, shriveled grayish skin, sunken glowing blue eyes, gray-white hair, average muscular build, often wearing tattered clothing or cracked armor, usually carrying whatever weapons they had when they died. Some carry swords or spears made of bone and ice.
Diet: Living flesh, mushrooms, dead flesh, bone marrow.
Racial Abilities: Transforms felled enemies into more Wights, Impervious to cold weather, Can unleash a wailing shriek that has a 75% chance to terrify their victims into running.
Strengths: Bonus damage and movement in cold biomes, no hunger from flesh meals, can walk upon the bottoms of rivers and oceans without drowning.
Weaknesses: Fire, magical weapons, elemental magic, cannot travel in hot biomes as extreme temperatures causes them to either melt or turn to stone.
Habitat: Most commonly found in icy lands and in cold biomes, a few sometimes venture into temperate biomes to look for new meals and 'recruits'.
Suggested Lore:
Wights, scourge of the north, dwellers of the icy hills and dells, they are pure evil. It is said that when a Wight is transformed, they lose all sense of morality and conscience. It is theorized by scholars that the Wights were first created by Lelthys, as a punishment on mortals many hundreds of years ago. They are currently the most feared beasts of the far north, and often travel in groups ranging from 10 - 40. Despite their bestial nature, they seem to have some sort of tribal structure, as noted by a scholar who came in contact with a travelling group of them several years ago. He had been forced into the icy wastes some nights before, and had been living off what dead flesh he could scrounge from fallen zombies. One such group of Wights came upon him, leveling their swords and spears at his chest, obviously hungry. He dropped his pack as he was so scared, and one of the group came forward, dressed in animal hides. He bent over, took all the flesh from the pack, nodded to the scholar, and then the entire group left.
Even though it seems that some of these groups can be reasoned with, the majority of Wights are savage and unrelenting in their quest to increase their population and food supply. It is estimated that there are at least a few hundred of them stranded in the far north. Should they ever get their hands of boats, and learn how to sial, there may not be much standing in the way of the rest of Caeda...
