Here’s a story for ya
---
In the city, there was a small herbalist’s shop where her mother originally resided. A high human man had one day come into this shop, looking for something to buy. But, when encountering the woman who owned the shop, he couldn’t help but keep coming back to talk to her.
This was because of a woman, a simple herbalist with no remarkable features- but, nevertheless he found himself falling in love.
But something was strange, something was off about the woman- how a lot of people looked at her. People said she was ghastly, evil. But he saw past that, as awe-struck lovers often do. But she was, she was devious- evil, disgusting excuse for a woman who poisoned people she didn’t like. But to keep herself alive and unpunished, she blamed their illnesses she was supposed to cure and never gave anybody a lethal dose. Just enough for them to grow suspicious of her actions.
Nobody could blame her for anything though- there was no proper evidence that didn’t make the participant sound bitter, she was untouchable.
When her and the man were wed and had a child, an incident occurred where another child died for her accidental actions and the woman finally confided in him, she wasn’t ready to be seen as a murderer. She told him what she had done to so many people, he didn’t believe it- he couldn’t.
His morals were stronger than his love for her and in the end, he told authority- sentencing her to death after poisoning and killing others- he did beg them to give her a punishment more merciful but with their suspicions confirmed they were enraged. But the child the woman and man both had was struggling just as much as he was in the aftermath, they loved her- they really did.
Believing her father a monster for turning her in but also believing her mother a monster too for her actions, she was stuck in a horrible situation.
The father was remarried years later, finally having gotten over his previous wives misfortune. But, alas the child often got the bad end of this still, being called the witch’s daughter. The family whose child died even said to others that the witch’s daughter should be killed in return, out of their bitterness.
But, when she was a bit older, she took it upon herself to learn some of her mother’s skills as an herbalist, to teach others she wasn’t bad like her mother- that she could really help people. Unfortunately, not many people even tried to ask for help of the girl because of her reputation. So instead, she took up one of the only jobs she was allowed to within the city, how to make handmade tapestries and dresses.
They were really beautiful, the old woman who taught her grew ever fond of the girl the more creations she made. The woman sold the items for her, should her own work be associated with her face not be taken.
She grew into a lovely young woman, learning the gentleness and precision that came with her profession and made tapestries and clothing that were given as gifts for many. But it wasn’t her talent people were celebrating, it was the old woman’s supposed talent with the work. But as the old woman grew frail, her hands were incapable of sewing and creating these things as she once could.
Then, the old woman became . It didn’t matter how much the girl tried to help the woman, there was nothing she could do.
When the old woman eventually died and the making of their wears died down. The girl tried to keep it alive but when people found out it was her things that were in fact being sold- people took the items and burnt them outside the shop. They said it was her fault that the old lady died.
At only nineteen, she is seeking to make people happy with the things she could create but is ever so cautious of her actions with others and is often called timid, stuttering because of her lack of social experience. But she will be trying her best.
Her name is Elias, and she’d much rather not use a last name.
Describe your character’s personality.
She’s a stuttering tapestry and dress maker with a heart filled with care for the people around her, though she comes down to a point where she doesn’t know who to trust and often will become isolated from others because of it.
Though naturally she isn’t able to express her words through talking, she uses her talent elsewhere for things that don’t require the use of her voice. She is not easily misguided, either, despite her sometimes apparent naivety.
She usually dreads meeting people who look intimidating, and if she does meet new people she’d much rather not be alone.
What ambitions do they possess?
They wish to be the most well-known artist and be successful in their profession, but also to come to know somebody as a friend. That, or have an employer of a high status to serve.
What are your character’s strengths and talents?
She’s been making tapestries and dresses since she was young, and mainly focuses on that- though does have some basic knowledge on some herbal remedies from studying her mother’s books.
What are your character’s weaknesses and inabilities?
She is fearful of water and is likely to drown should she be taken by surprise and dumped into a spot of deep water. She is not one for speaking publicly and can become a little rash should she be forced to speak in front of even a group of people. She is also unable to defend herself.
Describe your character’s appearance.
She is a young woman at the height of 5’5. Her skin is a golden brown, lighter brown on her thighs, wrists and back, smooth and clear due to her ancestry. Her straight hair is a darker, chocolate brown that frames her face and goes down her front, at the back it’s brought into a low three braids. Her wardrobe is often self-made, consisting rarely of anything but dresses - intricate or otherwise. She doesn’t enjoy wearing pants or anything too exposing, though is known to keep her back slightly bare. Though she often dresses to keep herself modest and unseen.
She owns a few prized possessions as of now. A walking stick, that by just looking at her you can tell she doesn’t require, a hand-held loom and a wooden spindle that she keeps in a bag attached to her hip.
